In the beginning of the deportation his father was taken to the Turkish army. A few months later his mother was exiled. Hagop and his brother were taken to Turkish families as servants. After two years his mother returned to Mardin and located both of them. She was working in Turkish houses and supported in this way her two children.
Later a Turk married her by force. The children were put out door. Hagop and Jerdjes decided to flee to Der-el-Zor. They did so and there they met Armenians who sent them to Aleppo.
