Artin
with his parents and one brother were exiled to Hotimillet where his father was
killed by a Turk and his mother was taken to the house of the same person. The
Turk married her, Artin and his brother remained with their mother.
Artin’s
step father was unkind to him and sometimes beat him so cruelly that the blood
ran down from his face. His mother could not endure it, one day she fell ill
and died. After her mother’s death the two children were put out of doors and
Artin carrying his little brother (No. 1215) on his back reached the village
Toybik. There a Turk adopted him as his child. Both grew up and worked without
payment.
One
day an Armenian chauffeur seeing his brother persuaded and brought him to us.
Artin wandering about in search of his brother came to Aleppo. On reaching our
rescue-home he demanded his brother, but he himself seing his broter
transformed from an ill-dressed creature into a being of charming little boy,
on the instant made his choice to remain with him.
