PICTURE 16/8
Mariam's mother died before the deportation. Her father was killed in the beginning of the war. Her grandmother took care of her until the Armenian deportation. When her old grandmother was deported she gave her to a Gypsy woman in order to save her life.
Mariam was living seven years with the Gypsy wife under a tent. However it happened that the Gypsies camped in Aleppo. An Armenian girl saw her at the fountain carrying water for sale. She recognized her as an Armenian girl, took a carriage and came right away to our Rescue-home.
We also find out that she is Armenian and so we admitted her in our Neutral House.
As far as we know she has no relatives.
Left our care: February 2, 1924(5). Relatives. |
