In the beginning of the deportation her husband was a soldier in the Turkish army but she could not get any news from him. During the insurrection of Moosh a Turk took her to his house, she lived one year with him. When the Russian army occupied this region, the Muslim population was deported to Diarbeker. Christians and Muslims came to Diarbekir. The Turk did not want to keep her any longer because he was too poor to keep her. Khanoom was obliged to live among the Kourds, she was too poor to support herself. The Kourds were also poor, they proposed her to go to a Turkish family as a servant. She agreed and succeded in finding a shelter. She remained 7 years there. She desired to flee but she was threatened with death if she would try.

Khanoom was working very hardly and ill-treated. She could not endure it and so she fled to Diarbeker. On the road she met a Greek party of refugees she joined them and reached this city on March 22.
