During the exile he was so small
that he does not know anything of the past. He told us that he had been among
the Arabs near Deir-el-Zor. His master always called him "Giavour".
After five years hard working he fled to another tribe named Sharabie where he
had to work six years for his master, Sheikh-el-Dehami, as a camel-herdsman.
One day the sheikh sent him to a neighbouring village to buy grain for the
house. When he returned his master beat him cruelly saying that the grain was
paid dear, upon which Hovhannes fled to Hassitshe and by our agent was sent to
us.
