His father was a soldier in the
Turkish army. Bedros was exiled with his mother, two sisters and one brother to
Severek. There a Turkish officer took his one sister away from him. The rest
were forced to continue their way and reached Aleppo, where his second sister
fell ill and died. After a few days rest mother and two brothers were sent
again forwards to Deir-el-Zor, there he witnesses his mother's death. Bedros in
great misery began to beg bread here and there and in this way he lost his
brother too. He himself came into the possession of an Arab, with whom he lived
eleven years working as a camelherdsman. One day his tribe came near Aleppo,
there he got time to flee and in this way he reached our rescue-house. Bedros
knows certainly that he has relatives in America but he does not remember their
name.
