His father was a soldier in the Turkish army when the war started. In the beginning of the deportation his two elder brothers fled to Russia. Hagob with his mother and sister were exiled to the villages near Urfa. His mother and sister were killed there. An Arab from Shoogh-Djoobou took him to his house and Hagob remained eight years there. He became the shepherd of the Arab. As he was ill-treated most of the time, he fled twice but he could not succeed. His master followed him and punished him cruelly.

Later he fled to an Armenian family, there he was protected and sent to Aleppo.

Hagob's brothers, Nigoghos and Ohan are supposed to be in Russia.
