In the beginning of the war Misak's
father was put in prison and killed. He was exiled with his mother and three
brothers to Deir-el-Zor, where an Arab took his elder brother and went away
with him. He, himself was taken by an Arab who kept him eleven years as a
servant.
Once the wandering tribe to whom he
belonged, came near Abu Herrara. There the inn-keeper was an Armenian and was
speaking in Armenian language with his comrades. Misak remembered some words of
his own language and stood confounded before them, he could not imagine at all
to see Armenians still living. The inn-keeper informed him about our
rescue-home and helped him to reach our agent in Hassitshe, whence he was sent
to us.
