During the deportation the
whole family was exiled to Deir-el-Zor. On the road the hostile bands attacked
the caravan and killed many of the defenseless people. During this attack he
lost his father. His mother was forced to go further on, but as she was not able
to carry the child in her arms, she left her dear little one on the road. An
Arab adopted Souren as his child because he had no children. He lived 11 years
with him and worked as a shepherd. Once, being wounded on his leg, he sought
refuge in our rescue-house.
