Khatoon's
father was killed in the general massacre of the men in the beginning of the
war. She herself was deported with her mother to Severek. There the latter was
killed and a Kurd dragged Khatoon to his house. After
four months he sold her to another Kurd for seven sheep. That man had another
wife and poor Khatoon became a slave of that woman and had to do the hardest
work in the house and on the field. One day she was far from the house seeking
fuel when an automobile arrived. Out came our agent who was looking for
Armenians. It did not last long till Khatoon was on the way to Arab-pounar and
from there was sent on to us. Khatoons father was found in Aleppo.
