His father was killed in the beginning of the deportation. Sarkis was deported with his mother and sisters to Urfa. They all lived in different Turkish houses for two years. Afterwards they returned to their native town. One year after their arrival his mother became ill and died. His sisters were married with Armenians and Sarkis lived six years with them.

            During the Armenian emigration one of his sisters came to Aleppo. She took Sarkis with her. She was not able to support him so she sent him to us.
