Most of the people from Arabguir were Armenians when the Armenian deportation was organized by the Turkish government. Armenian men were collected and put to (in) prison and a few days later they were massacred in the surrounding villages. Krikor's father, however, paid some money to a policeman and escaped from the prison. He went to his family and started in the same night to Harpoot. A few days after their arrival the father was killed by a gendarm. His family fled from Harpoot to Malatia hoping to find a quite place. In Malatia, Krikor's mother and elder brother became ill and died. Krikor remained alone with his little sister.

Some day his sister went to the market in order to buy some food but she did not return. Krikor looked for her but could not find her.

A Turk from Malatia took Krikor to his house as a servant. He was treated well and remained nine years in that family. But the Turks intention was to Islamize Krikor. He promised him to marry him to a nice Turkish girl, but Krikor wanted to know nothing about it and fled with some other Armenians to this town.

Having no relatives we took him in.
