In the beginning of the general war
Krikor, with his parents, one sister and one brother were deported to Souver in
the neighbourhood of Hassitshe. There his brother fell ill and died. His father
and sister were sent to Khabur where both of them died. He himself remained all
alone among the Arabs because his mother was taken by an Arab too. Krikor also
came into the possession of an Arab and remained many years with him, but he
had not forgotten his nationality and always looked out for a chance to flee
from the Arab. One day an Armenian had gone on business to the same village and
met Krikor there. He advised him to go to an orphanage in Aleppo and promised
to help him in this way if he wanted to come. Krikor agreed and came with him
to Hassitshe from where by our agent he was sent to us.
