The whole family was deported
to Deir-el-Zor and later on to Hassitshe. They arrived there when the
Tchetchens were massacring the Armenians in that region. His father was killed.
His mother together with the small child was taken away by the Arabs of the
district. A Beduin took Karmig to his tent and came to the tribe of the
Shammars. His brother has been among that tribe but fled two years ago. He is
in our file under the No. 1028. Two months ago No. 1028 together with our
Hassitshe agent located and rescued Karmig. He reached us on December 5th.
Karnig met with an accident shortly after he had entered our home. He was
helping his master to adjust a stove and so fell from the roof. We had to nurse
him a long time. Now he is better and has begun working again.
