Her father died before the war. Her mother and sister were killed in the beginning of 1915 in their native town. Khoumar was deported with her uncle's wife to Tshartshak near Urfa.
Khoumar was taken by an Arab to his house where she lived seven years as a servant and worker. One day going to pick up some wood for the Arab she met an Armenian woman who told her that there were orphanages in Urfa.
Khoumar fled and reached safely Urfa from where she was sent to us.
Her brother Ohan Chaboian is in America. Khoumar found her relatives and went to live with them.
