Giragos was deported together with his parents and his
brother to Meskene, where his father became ill and died. A few days afterwards
they were driven further on into the Syrian desert. Not long after his father's
death, his mother became ill and died in the desert where she was left without
being burried. Giragos was driven further with his brother and the few
remaining deported people. The same evening they came to an Arab tribe camping
in the desert. Giragos and his brother were taken to the tent of an Arab chief
who gave order to keep them among the tribe. He himself became the servant of
the chief. His brother was given to another beduin. In this way they were saved
from certain death. After six years of servitude he left the tribe and went to
the Kurds where he had to work very hardly. Lately he came to Arab Pounar in
order to sell some sheep, he met our agent who sent him immediately to our
Reception-House.
Left our care: July 20,
1928. Selfsupporting. In Beirut with his brother.
