Her father was killed in the beginning of the Armenian massacres. Hripsime was deported with her mother and grand-mother. On the road a Turk took her mother away from the caravan telling her that he had the intention to marry her. Hripsime was crying very bitterly. Another Turk took her to his house and adopted her as his own child. Hripsime lived eight years with the Turk's family.
Once she heard that her brother was living in Urfa, she was very anxious to join him but her mistress did not allow her to go. Hripsime fled to Diarbekir and came later with a caravan of emigrants to Urfa. Unfortunately she could not locate her brother. A family of her native town was going to Aleppo and they took Hripsime with them to this city.
