Garabed
has been deported with his parents, his brother and his married sister to
Deir-el-Zor. It took them months until they came to this city. His father
became ill and his mother was killed during the massacres. He does not know
what became of his brother and sister, as they were taken away by some men of
the Shammar tribe. He himself was taken to an Arab house and became the
shepherd of his master. The Muslims of the village called him always:
"Christian dog". Tired of his existence he escaped from the village,
hoping to find some relatives. He fled at night after a long and rather
tiresome wanderings he came to Syria. Some Armenians showed him the way to
Aleppo and to the Armenian church. He was sent to us from there.
Left our care: December 31, 1927. Selfsupporting.
