As soon as the deportation began, her father was killed in the prison. Arshaloos with her mother, three brothers and two sisters were deported. As they had money, they could engage a carriage. They arrived safely in Malatia. There the boys were taken away from their families and sent on in a separate caravan.
On their way to Harpoot the caravan was attacked by Kourds who robbed their every penny and took their horses and carriages and forced them to continue their way. Arshaloos' mother tried to kill herself but she did not succeed. She with the remaining children had to go further on. Near a town named Veran Shehir Arshaloos was taken away from the caravan by an Arab who kept her five years. A Turkish officer saw Arshaloos and bought her from the Arab. Five years later he married her and was living with her in Tell-Abiat. Our representative of the agricultural colony near that town saw her and recognized her as an Armenian. He spoke with her and arranged for her flight.
Arshaloos desired to return to her nation, followed his instructions and reached safely our Reception house.
Found her brother in Marseille and went to live with him April 20, 1926.
Left our care: July 12, 1925. Selfsupporting, servant. Relatives. |
