Harutiun's father was killed. He was deported with mother, brothers and a sister. His brothers were killed by the Kurds near Ras-el-Ain, the mother died of grief. He was driven on with his sister towards Mardin. On the road a Turk wanted his sister. The little fellow tried to protect her and was thrown into a pit. Some Kurds found him there. Since then he was their slave. Finally he escaped to Syria.
