Mesrob's father was killed in the beginning of the war, and his mother became ill and died three days before the deportation. Mesrob's sister was deported, but a Turk took Mesrob and his older brother to his house and kept them there.
Three months after, all Armenian children who were in the Turkish houses, were collected and exiled to the villages near Mardin. The caravan was attacked by Kourds and a Kourd robbed Mesrob and his brother. Three days after he sold them to an Assyrian. They lived there four years. The elder brother then succeeded in going to America, where two brothers were living.
Mesrob stayed in his master's house 10 years as their son. He got many letters from his brother, who advised him to go to Aleppo in order to be able to go to America. He asked permission and his master allowed him to go to us.
