Sarkis came on the road with his parents. The caravan went into the direction of Deir-el-Zor. His father became ill and died, and when they came near Deir-el-Zor his mother disappeared. A Beduin one day dragged him away to Djehil-Sindjar.

                  He stayed many years by the Arabs. Newly his master, who had always treated him well, died, and the woman began to illtreat Sarkis. He then fled and reached Deir-el-Zor, where our agent found him and sent him on to our reception home in Aleppo.
