Dikran was deported with the whole
family to Ras-el-Ain where during an attack by the Kurds he lost all his
relatives. He himself was taken by an Arab to his tent and was adopted as his
son. But Dikran could not endure the life of an Arab, far away from mankind. It
was very difficult for him to stay in the plains with some camels the whole day
long. He was very eager to rejoin his nation, because he was informed about his
origin. He remained many years there always planning his escape. Later he heard
that many Armenians were still living in Aleppo, upon which he left the tent
secretly and made his way to Ras-el-Ain, whence by our agent he was sent to us.
