Her father died before the deportation. Other men of the town were collected and killed in the city. Young women and girls were married to Turks, old women and children left to themselves.

Vardane's mother and brother have been saved in this way. She herself was taken to the house of a Turk named Mouhamed Deri. She was married to him and had a terrible time through ten years.

Vardane escaped four times from his house hoping to be sheltered at the American orphanage but they did not admit her there because she was the wife of a Moslem. Vardane returned again. Later she went to the Armenian priest, he helped her passing the frontier and she came to Hassitshe where she met our agent throught whom she was sent to Aleppo.

She has a brother in Damascus and a sister in Aleppo.
