His father died before the beginning of the general war. During the deportations Kirkor was taken to the chief man's house, while his mother was exiled to Harpoot. There his mother married a Turk.

Krikor remained eight years in this house. As he was growing up he remembered that he was an Armenian and he prepared himself to flee from the Moslem's house and go to Aleppo to look out for Armenians. By hazard he met some merchants who were going to Aleppo to sell sheep. He promised them to help them on the road if they would take him with them. The Turks agreed, having a servant for nothing in this way. During the journey he helped them and once here in Aleppo he joined our Reception house.

His mother was found in Aleppo and he went to live with her.
