Garabed was deported with his
parents and one sister. On the road near Islahie the men were separated from
the caravan and were sent forward on. After three days came on order to collect
the children of 4-10 age belonging to masculine gender, and to send them to
Constantinople. The Turkish government had the intention to teach them in
Islam. Garabed with many other Armenians boys was sent to Constantinople and
lived one year in an orphanage then he fled to a Turkish house, where he lived
five years as a servant. Once he met with a rich Arab who persuaded him to go
with him to Urfa. He agreed and came to that city where he worked for the Arab
five years in the farms. Garabed was ill-treated by his mistress. He fled to
Arabpounar from where by our agent he was sent to us. Found his brother in
Beirut and went to live with him.
