Veronika told us that she was exiled
with many people. She does not remember her parents, her birthplace she does
not remember too. She grew up in a Mohammedan family in Idlib. Her master was
the inspector of "Regie of Tobacco" in that town. One day, on the
road to Constantinople with his family, her master fell ill and died in Aleppo.
Her mistress would not keep her more, so she sent Veronika away. An Armenian
met the girl in the streets of the city and brought her to us.
