The
fate of this poor girl has been very sad. She was in fact rescued from a
brothel and sadder still, she had been brought thither by her own aunt.
Meriam's mother died, when she
was but a little child and her aunt took care of her. The poor woman has
suffered much during and after the war, and after the death of her husband she
gave up her honour and conscience and went to the brothel.
Other Armenian women living in
this horrible place still had so much feeling of decency left that they could
not bear to see the little girl there and they brought her to us.
Left
our care: August 25, 1925. Relatives Aleppo.
