His father died before the deportation. Mardiros went with his mother to Aintab where his grandmother was living. Within one year his mother married again and Mardiros was placed in the American Oprhanage. During the war the Turkish Government separated the older boys and deported them. Mardiros was exiled to Asitshe, where he lived seven years as a farmer.
When Armenians were allowed to travel he fled to some Armenian carriage drivers and with their help he succeeded in coming to Aleppo.
As far as we know he has no relatives.
Mardiros found work for himself and became selfsupporting in a few weeks.
