His father died in the Ourfa war. Hagop, his mother, two sisters and 3 brothers were deported with the Ourfa Armenians to a town named Rakka. The caravan was ordered by the Turkish government to continue her way to Der-el-Zor crossing the Syrian desert. Before leaving for Der-el-Zor his mother gave him to an Arab in order to save his life.
Hagob became a shepherd of the Arab and stayed nine years with him. After nine years of unpaid service and ill-treatment he became tired and fled to Rakka. Some Armenian chauffeur recognized him and brought him directly to our Reception-house.
As he has no relatives we took him in.
Left our care: August 6, 1927. Selfsupporting Joiner.
