Deported until Besehig, 8 hours east-ward from Urfa on the road to Weranshehir. His mother died from disease on the road, and so did his brother and sister. One brother, Aram, disappeared among the Kourds around Weranshehir. The caravan finally was stripped entirely nacked.

Howhannes remained by a Kourd there 7 years, ploughing and doing other village-work of course without any recompense.

In this spring he heard that the French had entered Tel-Abiat, so he fled and reached this place in two days, from where an Armenian automobilist took him to Aleppo.

There are 7 Armenian boys yet in the village, a woman and two girls. The boys and the younger 2 girls want to come, but they are afraid of the flight. Howhannes' father is living in America, he left 4 years before the war, when Howhannes was a little boy. We will try to find him out.

Hovhannes has come into connection with his relatives. His father is dead but has left no small amount of money.

Hovhannes learned a trade, entered our camp February 28, 1923.

Left our care:  February 28, 1923. Selfsupporting, trade.
