In the time of deportation her parents were killed. She
herself was dragged away by a Kurd, who brought her to his village Meschana
near Malatia. Mariam was then eight years old. Fortunately the Kurd and his
wife were nice people. They treated her well and when she grew up, they married
her to an Armenian, who was living in the same village. Some years they were
allowed to live together, then the war came between the Turks and Kurds. Her
husband was taken away as a soldier and she never saw him again. A Kurd wanted
to marry her, then she fled with her two children. Some muleteers brought her
to our home in Aleppo, there she is now staying.
Left our care: April 4,
1929. Her husband has come back. Is living in Aleppo.
