Zekie
and Fehima belong to those little girls who do not remember anything about
their past time. They do not know even their family name or birthplace.
Once, some Armenians seeing
and inquiring into their story, succeeded in ascertaining that they were
Armenians. Accordingly they informed our agent about the matter, who with the
help of the French governor of Deir-el-Zor succeeded to rescue the two
miserables.
Those girls were in the
possession of the gypsies in the Deir-el-Zor region. They remained 10 years
there. There were forced to work as singing and dancing girls, wandering from
one village to another, thus supporting their master.
We
found her father in America.
Left
our care: February 3, 1927. Her relatives in Aleppo took her over until she
could join her father in America.
Went to America 1929.
