His father died during his military service in the Turkish Army. Haroutiune was deported with his mother until Meskene where she died. From Meskene Haroutiune went to Sabka where he lived with the Arabs as a farmer.

            One day he met some Armenian carriage drivers and he asked them to help him in fleeing. They agreed. He fled at nighttime and joined the Armenian drivers on the road. With their assistance he could reach this city.

            Haroutiune's mother's brothers were soldiers in the Turkish army in Constantinople.

Haroutiune learned drawing and is working in our embroidery-department.
