During the [in]surrection of the city, Armenians were attacked by Kourds. Most of the people were killed. A few men could flee to Russia and the rest of the survivors were deported.
During the deportation, Toorfanda lost her mother and she herself was taken to a Tsherkess family. Being ill-treated, she fled from there and went to Harpoot. She was adopted as a child in a Turkish family and lived eight years among the Moslems.
Toorfanda growing up understood that she would be married some day to a Turk and so looked out to flee. Some Armenian caravan was starting for Aleppo. She fled from her Turkish parents, joined the leaving party and reached this city.
Came into connection with her relatives and went to live with them.
