Ovsanna’s
father killed in her native town, and she was deported with her mother. Not
very far from the city a Turk broke into the caravan and took possession of
Ovsanna.
With
him she stayed til after the armistice, when her mother succeeded in freeing
her, and for some time they lived together in Marash. During this time she
became engaged to a young Armenian, but before they could be married fresh
troubles came on, and they all had to flee to Aleppo. On the road, the Turk who
had never given up the desire of having Ovsanna as his wife, again broke in and
took her from them. Her mother reached Aleppo together with the young man. They
turned to us for help and we tried hard through various messengers to bring her
out. Finally we succeeded and of course the joy and greatfulness was great on
both sides.
