During the exile his father had gone to a neighbouring village but on the way back to Adiaman he was killed by the Turks.

                  Hovhannes with his moter and one sister were exiled to Ras-el-Ain. There a Kürd took his mother and Arab dragged his sister away, he has no turther news about them.

                  Hovhannes himself came into the possession of a Kürd, for whom he had to work 12 years in his farm near Ras-el-Ain.

                  Once he met with the assistant of our agent who was there in search of Armenian children, both agreed and Hovhannes was sent to our rescue-home.
