Khatchadur is one of
those boys whose life among the Kürds was very hard to be borne.
He
does not remember what happened of his parents even their name he cannot
recollect. A Kürd named Faraj Said in Mardin had taken Khatchadur in his house
and he was working as a servant there. All day long he had to receive a certain
amount of caresses and blows which was dispensed by his mistress and had to
weep all day long, so nearly he lost his sight.
One
day, in the street, loaded with two great buckets of water he met a stranger,
who stood gazing at him for a long time, then the stranger extended his hand
offering a silver coin to him. As Khatchadur was hesitating the stranger urged
him kindly to take it and proposed him to follow him. Soon the proposal was
accepted, the buckets were left in the middle of the street.
Has had an eye operation.
