Armen
was exiled with his parents, brothers and country people from Konia to Katma.
There his parents were killed. He himself and his brothers were driven further
on with the caravan in the direction of Deir-el-Zor. On the road an Arab
dragged away with him and brought him to his tent. He does not know what became
of his brothers. Armen stayed twelve years by his possessor and was treated as
a slave. He never forgot that he was an Armenian. Often he spoke Armenian with
his dear sheep when he was alone with them in the desert. In that way he did
not forget his mother-tongue. Once he met with an Armenian chauffeur who
offered to take him with in his motorcar. He immediately was willing to go with
and reached our home safely.
