His father died before the war. He himself was deported
with his mother, his sister and smaller brother. It took them months until they
came to the region of Mardin. Near Arrada, a Kurdish village, the whole caravan
was attacked by the Kurds. With many others his mother, sister and brother were
killed in his presence. One of the murderers took Setrak to his village where
he had to work for him. Years were passing and Setrag never heard a word about
Christians or Armenians. Lately his master told him: "You are an Armenian
and you will to become a Muslim if you like to be allowed to live among
us." Setrag refused, he was outraged by all the villagers. At night Setrag
ran away and reached safely our Hassitshe station. Our agent sent him right
away to our Reception-House.
