Her father was killed in the beginning of the Armenian massacres. She, her mother and sisters were deported to Urfa. Turks of this town separated them from the family and Mary with her sister were taken to different Turkish houses. Mary lived two years in Urfa. Later the Turkish family went to Diarbekir and took her with them. She could never get any news from her family.
Armenians were emigrating. Mary wanted to leave Turkey too. She asked her master for permission to go, the latter granted her this favor. Mary went to an Armenian family and waited until they got their passport and finally came with the family to Aleppo.
As far as we know she has no relatives.
