This boy was deported with his parents, two brothers and
two sisters. They had to leave everything in their native town and start their
way to Katma. After extremely tiresome wanderings they came in the region of
Bab, Meskene and finally to Deir-el-Zor. There they stayed one year, then they
were sent on to Khabur. Thousands of Armenians had already been massacred
there. Also this caravan was attacked by Arabs and Kurds. An Arab from the
Shammar tribe took Jervant apart and saved his life by bringing him to his
tent. Jervant had to work very hard 12 - 13 years long. Lately he fled to Mosul
from there to Deir-el-Zor from where by of agent he was sent on to us.
He returned several times to
the districts, where he had been detained so many years and persuaded a good
number to flee to our rescue-home.
Left our care: September 7,
1927. Selfsupporting.
