In the beginning of the war Manush's father and uncle
were thrown in prison and soon died under the hands of ther tormentors. Manush
came on the road with her mother and brother. They wandered afoot to
Deir-el-Zor. Later they were driven through the desert to the river of Khabur.
There the whole family were sold to a Beduin, Sallal, for two Medjidie. The
next day he killed the mother and brother and married Manush, who was then
eleven years old. After two days she succeeded in fleeing to another Beduin
tribe, Djabugh, where a man by name Chalaf-el-Mullah took her in his tent.
After three years he married her. He was always kind to her. She got two
children. Two years ago he died and his brother wanted to marry Manush to an
Arab. Then she fled to Hassitshe where she met with an Armenian from Aintab,
who told her that her aunt and cousin were living in Aleppo.
Those were poor
people, and we paid the expenses for bringing her here.
