The father of the 2 children
was killed in his native town in 1922 during the warfare between the French and
the Turks. A Turk took the mother and the children to his house with the
intention of making the widow his wife, but she succeeded in fleeing together
with the Christian population, when they left the city. As however it was in
the middle of the winter, she left her children with the Turk that they should
not perish in the snow.
She herself arrived in Aleppo
after having endured much hardship and was received into the house of her
brother, but she was now separated from her children and did not know how to
get them back. Finally we were informed and we succeeded in laying hold on them
by means of a recompense to the Turk, who had kept them. They were received
into the house of the uncle.
