Oghda, with her parents and brothers were deported to Ras-el-Ain. Her relatives were killed and she sent to the Turkish orphanage in Mardin. She never had any news from her other relatives. After being two years in the orphanage she was placed in a Turkish family as a servant. The Turkish family was very kind and gentle to her so she never thought of fleeing.
However an Armenian woman who knew her told her about the orphanages in Aleppo and persuaded her to flee from the Moslem house. Oghda fled at night, sold her clothes, paid a muleteer who brought her to us.
She was engaged and went to live with her new relatives.
Left our care: December 30, 1923. Relatives by marriage.
