Her father died when she was a little child. During the Turkish-Armenian rebellion a Kourd took her mother and married her. Siroom was allowed to come with her mother to the Kourd's house.

During the Russian offensive of that section they were all together deported to Diarbeker. The Kourd and Siroom's mother became ill and died a few days after their arrival in Diarbeker.

Siroom was taken by the government and put in a Turkish orphanage where she stayed one year. After this a Turk took her to his house and Siroom lived six years there being the maid-servant of the Turkish family.

When Armenians were allowed to travel and leave Turkish territory, caravans of refugees, Greeks and Armenians were passing the city. Siroom fled to an Armenian family who protected and sent her to Aleppo. Siroom came with a party of Greeks.
