The whole family was deported to Harpoot. There men were separated from women and children and afterwards directed to the mountains where they were killed.

The rest of the caravan went on to Urfa. There many died exhausted of power and Bedros lost his step-mother. A Turk from Joot took him to his village where he remained seven years as a farmer. In the meanntime his mistress died, the Turk married again and the Turk's second wife was very unkind to him so he fled.

He worked with a Turkish muleteer, once they came to Aintab there he met some boys who were coming to Aleppo. Bedros fled from his master joined the leaving Armenian boys and came with them to this city.
