His family was killed on the road during the deportation and he taken to a Turkish house where he lived for 7 years as a servant.

            Hovsep knew that there are Armenian orphanages in Western Turkey, he fled from his master and came to Diarbeker. Unfortunately he was not accepted in the orphanage. He begged a Turkish muleteer to take him to Aleppo, promising him to be useful on the road. The men agreed and took Hovsep with him to Baalbeck, where he met Miss Jeppe. He was sent by Miss Jeppe to Aleppo.

            His brother is supposed to be found in Djebel.

Hovsep found his uncle and went to live with him.
