His father was killed during the deportation. Tovmas with his mother and younger brother were deported to Boz-Khater where a Kourd killed his mother and brother and took Tovmas to his farm. Tovmas lived there for 7 years as his shepherd. Later he fled to a Christian village named "Golia". There he heard that the French army occupied Aleppo, and that Armenians are living in this city. Within a few months he earned some money in Galia and after that he came to Aleppo travelling only at night time.
Tovmas has an old aunt, who is the house-mother of our reception house.
