Her husband and her brother were killed by the Turks in
the beginning of the Great War. When the Armenians were deported she was
separated from her child and exiled with a caravan composed entirely of women
and girls conducted by Turkish gendarms. They were wandering months long until
they finally reached the Urfa district. A Turk from this town married her.
Lately she was told that her son has been in Urfa and gave on to Arab-Pounar.
She immediately left her Turkish husband and went on to Arabpounar. There she
met her son, but when she told him that he was her son he fled again. The years
of trouble, hunger and danger have changed both so radically that the son could
not recognize his own mother. Our agent of this village has sent her to us and
he makes inquiries about her son.
Left our care: August 21,
1927. Selfsupporting.
